Simpler activity centre management

Built as an A-Level coursework project, DASH helps activity centres to manage their activities with ease.

Part of my A-Level coursework, the task was to develop a data handling system using Java and Java Swing. This idea purpose of this task was to test both my ability to design and develop software, and also test my understanding of the 9 stages of waterfall methodology.

Identifying a local outdoor activity centre as a proposed ‘client’, the application was designed around their evolving needs, ones that were not being met by their current booking system provider.

Identifying their needs through a range of research methodologies, including site and questionnaires, i identified that the application required 4 key functionalities. These included customer-facing bookings, booking management (for volunteers), activity bookings and scheduling as well as accommodation bookings.

The final application was developed using the waterfall methodology and built using Java. The application featured access management, customer and client bookings, as well as activities and accommodation management methodology.
